Have you ever felt disappointed before?
Disappointments are inevitable whenever you decide to believe in something or someone to do something. I was talking to a colleague from work and she was telling me how she was feeling disappointed in her life and I couldn't help but to also reflect on my own life and see how I've also felt disappointment.
God started showing me how I've experienced disappointment in my relationships, whether it was romantic relationships or friendships. A lot of times disappointment comes from high expectations of a person, or expecting something other than our reality. Although we are called to believe for greater and we are called to not settle as believers of Christ Jesus, it’s important to realize that if we are feeling let down because of someone else's behavior did we 1) Share with the person the expectation that we had for them? or 2) Is this something they can give in the season they’re in?
A lot of times our relationships are a reflection of our relationship with God. If we are having disappointment because of unmet expectations of our reality, it also means at times the same thing for us spiritually. Jesus tells us to have faith as small as a mustard seed and if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we can move a mountain. He also tells us in Mark 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”. But believers get this misconstrued with God's Will and plan for our lives versus our will and plan for our lives and how we think our lives should look. This is when disappointment starts to happen.
Today, if you are feeling disappointment in your life towards God’s plan, give God your disappointment. He is not surprised or intimidated by it. Let Him show you that His thoughts are better than yours.
“However as it is written: " What no eye have seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived "the things God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
